Description

The fenced dog forest consists of varying forest terrain. Next to Pörkenäsvägen there is slightly older spruce and pine forest. The shelter and barbecue area is located in a newly felled area where new forest is growing. Note that the terrain varies and there are some amount of twigs, branches and tracks from excavators and forestry machinery. There is also a small swamp near the barbecue area. Arrival and parking

Parking on Nanoq arctic museum's car park (Pörkenäsvägen 68), follow the signs to Nanoq. Park on the right side of the car park. From the parking it is a 200 m wal to the gate of the dog forest. See map below.

 

NOTE! It is strictly forbidden to be in the vicinity of the mast or to use the road leading to the mast for parking. The owner of the mast has video surveillance.

 

The gate to the dog park is opened with the four-digit code given after booking. From the inside, the door can be sealed by the chains. Make sure the door is locked with the padlock when you leave! In case of problems, call us.

Rules in the dog forest

  • You can only stay in the dog forest during your booked time period.
  • Dogs should be kept on a leash outside the dog forest.
  • In the dog forest, dogs are allowed to run and play freely, but make sure they do not dig near the fence or cause other damage. Note that the fence grid does not go beneath the ground level.
  • Do not bring dogs that are sick, unvaccinated or in heat.
  • Leave the dog forest on time so that the next visitor can arrive safely with their dogs. There is always a 15-minute gap between two bookings to ensure safety.

  • There is no lighting in the dog forest, bring a lamp and e.g. reflective vest for the dog and move carefully in the dark.
  • All stays are at your own risk. Fäboda dog forest is not responsible for accidents or dogs that escape.
  • Smoking is only allowed when there is no forest fire warning. Use common sense in dry weather.

  • Leave the forest clean for the next visitor!

    • Do not leave any food in the forest.

    • Do not leave any trash in the forest, there are trash cans at the shelter and at the gate.

    • Do not leave any dog ​​poop on the ground, pick it up and put it in the designated trash cans. Poop bags are available at the shelter in case you forgot.

 

Laavu

There is a shelter ("laavu") in the dog forest with a barbecue place. In the shelter there is a shovel, knife, axe, saw, first aid kit, and fire blanket available.

 

Fireplace and barbecue

  • Open fires are only allowed at the fire pit next to the shelter and only when there is no forest fire warning! A fire blanket is available in the shelter for emergency extinguishing.
  • Firewood can be purchased for 5 € per booking time. You can also bring your own firewood.
  • It is forbidden to use trees and branches from the forest as firewood.
  • Do not leave any trash behind at the barbecue area.

 

Toilet

A dry toilet is available close to the shelter, see the map above. Please note that there is no running water in the forest.
